Prophecy was more than predictions of conditions and events. It was more than putting the finger accurately and firmly on the need of the hour, though this too was an integral part.
The vital principle that animated prophecy introduced the testimony of Jesus in the writings of the prophets. These writings filled people with expectation for the coming of the Just One.
This expectation motivated them to strive for personal victory over sin.
And it still does. Reading the prophets with a true heart, a person comes to know the Lord better, and to be more like Him.
