God created man with a spirit, soul, and body in a perfect and blameless condition. Satan tempted Adam and Eve with appeals through the body; because of their disobedience, man came under the power of sin.
The order was completely reversed so that man was now body, soul, and spirit — that is, he began receiving primary direction through the body instead of the spirit.
All this must be changed if man is to be what God intended. We must learn to bring our soul under the control of the spirit rather than of the body. Then the Holy Spirit can work through our spirit to infuse us with the mighty power of God, and we become “more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
